Have you ever stopped to think about the fact that God never asked or told Adam & Eve to cover themselves after they sinned?
"Come out of hiding you're safe here with me.
There's no need to cover what I already see."
Why do we hide ourselves from Him? Why do we run away as children when we sin. So fearful to face our father thinking that He would shame us or yell at us. Or worse, that He would make us pay.
"You've got your reasons but I hold your peace.
You've been on lock down and I hold the key."
Yet the ironic thing is that He is so moved by compassion for us. He loved us so much that He didn't just let us lay covered in our man made covering, trying to fix broken pieces all alone.
"Cause I loved you before you knew what was love,
and I saw it all, still I chose the cross
You were the one that I was thinking of when I rose from the grove."
His love covers everything. He knew all the things we would do that would make us run. The actions yesterday, today and tomorrow that make us hide away from Him and others around us. Yet He still chose us.
"Now rid off the shackles, my victory's yours.
I tore the veil for you to come close."
He then gave us His righteousness. To be seen as pure, whole, worthy, cherished, adored, chosen, and most of all HIS. All of this He did so that we would come close to Him.
"There's no reason to stand at a distance anymore
you're not far from home."
When you truly understand a love like this. You don't have to hide anymore. You don't have to try to fix things or make a covering on your own. Instead you can receive. You can stand unveiled before Him, knowing that He loves you. Covered in His righteousness alone. And take that step when He calls you to Him. Because all He desires is you.
